Whether you are starting out as a new camera collector or you are someone who loves to decorate your space with past relics you will love this classic Minolta camera from 1966. It’s currently available on TheWeeBitThings Etsy shop
The Minolta Hi Matic 9 is a top of the line fixed lens rangefinder. In 1966 it was advertised as the world’s most versatile automatic camera. It does have a fully manual feature, but back then it wasn’t an asset. The automatic features were what made this one above the rest.
There is automatic electric eye in the Minolta Hi-Matic 9 that provides unsurpassed exposure accuracy, based on the patented “CLC” system. It includes Minolta’s “SLS” system for “rapid, fumble-free” loading and “Easy Flash” for automatic flash photography. The Hi-Matic 9 could also be used semi-automatically and manually. In 1966 “No other camera in the world offers this versatility”.
This one is in excellent condition. While I cannot guarantee that it is fully functioning, it appears to be very well taken care of, i.e. nothing broken, nothing stuck. It has the original camera case.
The replacements for the now obsolete batteries such as the PX625 1.35V mercury can be found online. Alkalkine battery near equivalents are 1.5V.
Although I’m not a camera collector, I love to learn about an object of old. Learning about this this camera has been fun.
